They provide a place where consumers and businesses alike have an unbiased source to guide in matters of trust. The BBB provides advice that is free of charge and easily accessible. BBB Accreditation is an honor - and not every company is eligible. Businesses have to meet high standards, are invited to apply, then presented to local Boards of Directors for review and acceptance.
All BBB accredited business have agreed to live up to the BBB Standards for Trust. The Standards for Trust are a comprehensive set of policies, proceedures and best practices focused on how businesses should treat the public - fairly and honestly in all circumstances. BBB does not compare businesses against each other, but rather evaluates businesses against BBB standards and BBB standards clearly speak to the character and competence of the organization.
